Easterns and Murrumba collaborate for 5 December Daylesford competition
The Daylesford Pipe Band Competition brings together some of Australia’s most dedicated and talented musicians, showcasing precision, discipline, and a strong sense of bagpipe tradition. Among the standout moments to experience is the collaboration between Eastern Districts Pipe Band and Murrumba Pipe Band, which highlights the power of collaboration within the pipe band community. By combining players, the two bands expect to be able to strengthen their overall sound, blending experience with emerging talent. Aintree’s first community-led ANZAC Day service on the 19th of April 2026 brought residents together in a powerful show of unity and respect ahead of this Saturday.
For the first time, the service was led by the residents themselves, reflecting the strength, diversity, and shared respect within the community. It’s great to see local leaders in action taking over these events, as Woodlea passes these important aspects of our community into their care.
The quiet service served as a powerful moment of reflection, bringing together people from many cultural backgrounds, including local RSL representatives, members of the Scottish Network of Australia, local residents from our Community Builders initiative, and young voices from Aintree Children’s Academy and Aintree Scout Group. It set the tone for ANZAC Day, honouring those who served while highlighting the growing role of community in carrying these traditions forward.
As Stephen Cook, local resident and past President of Melton RSL shared, “The community came together as one to remember those who died and those who returned home, some broken beyond repair … I see the youth as those that will continue our story, and I think we’re in good hands.”
At its heart, ANZAC Day is about remembrance, sacrifice, and appreciating those who served. This service reflected those values in a deeply meaningful way, shaped by the people who now call this community home.

On November 12, 2025, members from Eastern District Pipe Bands were amongst the 374 bagpipers that gathered at Melbourne’s Federation Square to smash the world record for the largest bagpipe ensemble. Playing AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll),” they honored the 1976 music video, surpassing the previous 2012 record of 333 players.

In December 2025 the Eastern Districts Pipe Band was recognised by the Scottish Network Australia for the band’s development and support model for affiliated bands , Ringwood , Warragul, Gregor pipers and Gippsland Scottish.
