The "Arrow"
Formed in 2024 after the vision of Mike Taylor and Richard Harris, the band proudly wears a combination of Tartans representing the principle of affiliation.
The band motto is "Ceol Gar Toirt Comla" (Music Bringing Us Together)
This reflects us as a group coming together to Play Music... The Eastern
Districts Combined Pipe Band conforms to the Model Rules for an Incorporated Association – Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2023 Part 3
The Eastern Districts Pipe Band’s first competition was played in April 2025
Mike Taylor - Pipe Major
Mike is an accomplished and experienced Australian piper and solo player
- He has played in pipe bands at various levels. Mike has also placed consistently in the solo piping scene
- As of 2024, he was appointed to Pipe Major of the Eastern Districts Pipe Band.
Richard Harris
Richard is an accomplished and experienced Australian piper and pipe major has been active for over 40 years.
- He has been the Pipe Major of the City of Queanbeyan Pipes and Drums and is associated with the Morwell Caledonian Pipe Band and the Warragul RSL Pipe Band. He is also an integral part of Eastern Districts Pipe Band Band leadership.
- He has competed at the Grade 1 championship level, received tuition in Scotland, and performed at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. In 2025, he was noted as the resident bagpiper for the Walhalla Goldfields Railway.
- As of 2023, he joined St Paul's Anglican Grammar School to lead their new Pipes and Drums program.
